Waxing
Waxing is a very effective hair removal technique which works by removing hair from the
root. New hairs tend not to grow back in waxed areas for two to eight weeks. Virtually
any area of the body can be waxed, including legs, arms, feet, toes, bikini, eyebrows and face. If waxing is carried out regularly,
permanent hair reduction can be achieved.
The
Hair Removal Waxing Process
A wax mixture is spread thinly over the skin with a spatula. A cloth or paper
strip is then applied firmly to the wax, and ripped off in a single fast movement against the direction of the hair growth.
This results in the wax being removed along with the hair and dead skin cells that leaves the skin feeling smooth.
Benefits
of Hair Removal by Waxing
Large
amounts of hair can be removed at one time Results are long lasting – re-growth starting between 2-8 weeks Dead skin cells are
removed during the process Over time hair re-growth can become softer and lighter in colour Regular waxing over
a prolonged period can significantly reduce future hair growth
Benefits
Over Other Hair Removal Techniques
Depilatory Creams – If you're in a hurry to remove unwanted
hair, depilatory creams can be useful. They are quick and easy to apply and relatively effective. However,
hair is not removed from the root and re-growth tends to be stubbly and unsightly. Another major disadvantage is that the
cream contains chemicals that burn off the hair, which can cause skin irritation. Those with sensitive skin should take great
care when experimenting with this approach to hair removal.
Shaving – Like depilatory creams is also
a quick way to remove unwanted hair. It is in fact the most popular method for removing bodily hair. But
shaving has its drawbacks. Cutting oneself is the major issue, followed by irritated and spotty skin, and
then quick stubbly re-growth.
